Le Château Mouton-Rothschild est l’un des domaines les plus prestigieux du Médoc et fait partie des cinq Premiers Grands Crus Classés de 1855. Situé à Pauillac, il appartient à la famille Rothschild depuis 1853. Le château est entré dans l’histoire en devenant le seul domaine à être promu de Deuxième à Premier Grand Cru Classé en 1973.
Le vignoble couvre environ 84 hectares d’un seul tenant, implantés sur les célèbres graves profondes de Pauillac. Ces sols pauvres et parfaitement drainants favorisent particulièrement le Cabernet Sauvignon, cépage majoritaire du domaine. L’âge moyen des vignes est d’environ 44 ans, certaines parcelles étant nettement plus anciennes.
Les vendanges sont réalisées manuellement avec un tri très rigoureux des raisins. Chaque parcelle est vinifiée séparément dans les célèbres cuves en bois du château afin de préserver l’identité de chaque terroir.
L’année 2002 fut marquée par une sécheresse importante avec environ 40 % de précipitations en moins que la moyenne. Un exceptionnel été indien entre fin août et début octobre a permis aux raisins d’atteindre une maturité remarquable malgré des rendements réduits. Aujourd’hui, ce millésime présente un profil classique, élégant et harmonieux, avec une belle évolution en bouteille.

Château Mouton-Rothschild is one of the most prestigious estates in the Médoc and one of the five First Growths of the 1855 Classification. Located in Pauillac, it has belonged to the Rothschild family since 1853 and became the only estate ever promoted from Second Growth to First Growth status in 1973.
The vineyard covers around 84 hectares planted on Pauillac’s famous deep gravel soils. These exceptionally well-drained soils are particularly suited to Cabernet Sauvignon, the estate’s flagship grape variety. The average vine age is around 44 years.
Harvesting is carried out entirely by hand with strict grape selection. Parcels are vinified separately in the château’s iconic wooden vats to preserve the character of each terroir.
The 2002 vintage was marked by severe drought, with rainfall approximately 40% below average. An exceptional Indian summer from late August through early October allowed the grapes to reach outstanding maturity despite low yields. Today, the wine displays a classic, elegant and harmonious profile
