The name of the estate comes from the tower which is on the court of honor of the Château. It is the vestige of a small fort bought by the ancestor of Montesquieu. It was a strategic point of view and a way to inspect the road connecting Bordeaux to Toulouse. The stones had served to the construction at the actual château.
