Château Lafite Rothschild
1er Cru Classé en 1855
Appellation Pauillac
En chiffres
Surface : 107 Ha
Without any doubt the famous wine in Bordeaux – and not without reason, as it was classified as Premier des Premiers Crus (first of the first) in the 1855 Classification. Château Lafite is one of the three unquestioned top wines of Pauillac, together with Latour and MoutonRothschild. Predominantly situated around the chateau, the domain has the particularity of also including, by special “derogation”, a parcel situated in the commune of Saint Estèphe – but as this chateau is held in such high esteem by the Bordelais, this slight bend in the rules is overlooked. Like all great Bordeaux wines, Château Lafite possesses a truly aristocratic personality that often requires several decades before reaching full maturity. Its characteristic bouquet of cedar, almond and violet with a delicate mineral hint – referred to by some as “black graphite” – is underlined by tannins of supreme elegance and exceptional balance and sweetness.
