PAVILLON ROUGE
ASSEMBLAGE : 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot

Robert Parker - 89/100 Drink 2007-2022

Margaux’s second wine, the 2004 Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux, may turn out to be outstanding. Its deep ruby/purple hue is accompanied by fleshy notes of black currants, cherries, smoke, earth, and spring flowers. Lovely, ripe, and opulent, it is best consumed during its first 10-15 years of life.

Jancis Robinson – 16,5/20 Drink 2011-2017

Mid crimson with quite a pale rim. Slightly marked volatile acidity. Light, fresh very dry. Fragrant. A little skinny on the mid palate. Classy but very mild and low key. Pretty dry tannins. Other good vintages for Pavillon Rouge according to Pontallier: 2003, wait for 2002 because there is still some austerity. 2001 is good. Definitely wait for 2000. 1999 is wonderful now and the series 1998 back to 1995. The quality of Pavillon Rouge started to pick up from 1995 when we started to have a third wine. I had 1987 Pavillon recently - it was evolved but pleasant. Drink 2011-2017. Date tasted 11th April 08.

Neal Martin – 90/100 Drink 2010-2020

This is a really lovely Pavillon Rouge, the nose having really blossomed since I last encountered this wines. Very pure with slightly earthy black fruits but with outstanding definition. Blackberry, raspberry and just a hint of coca. The full-bodied palate is very well balanced, still nascent and perhaps a little unresolved but gradually developing a sensuous, silky mouthfeel. A touch of smoke on the finish, this is fresh, surprisingly complex Pavillon Rouge that needs a little more time, but should have a long future. Drink 2010-2020.

Château Margaux-1er Cru Classé en 1855-Appellation Margaux
Château Margaux

Once the residence of Edward III, King of England, Château Margaux is one of the world's most magestic châteaux !

The Mentzelopoulus family bought the property in 1978 and Chateau Margaux has been considered as one of the best wines in Bordeaux ever since. The 90 hectare property, situated in the centre of the Margaux appellation, produces over 30,000 cases per year.

Pavillon Rouge and Pavillon Blanc du Chateau Margaux, made from the younger vines, offer an exciting introduction to the Grand Vin.
