La bouche est en retrait mais sans faiblesse. Elle est tout simplement discrète, avec une liqueur mesurée et de la fraîcheur en équilibre. Délicat et subtil, plus que puissant.

La robe est paille dorée et le nez est marqué par le miel et le boisé. La bouche est ample et suave, toute en rondeur, d'une belle complexité. Grand vin.

This is still really tight, with racy floral and green plum edges along the core flavors of white peach, mirabelle plum, melon and green fig, but tis has a stunning length, with a rapier of minerality that matches the sweetness step for step on the long, quinine-infused finsh. The 2013 Guiraud has a generous bouquet of rich honeyed fruit interlaced with quince and hints of marmalade, though I would like to see more mineralite and tension by the time of bottling. The palate is well-balanced with a spice-tinged entry, touches of Seville orange and mandarin emerging with time. There is good depth here, fine density with plenty of sinew toward the saline-tinged finish.

Extremely intense aromas of dried mushroom, flower petal with pineapples and apricots. Full body, medium sweet and a fantastic intensity of botrytis. Very structured and rich. A classic styled Sauternes. Better in 2018.

Château Guiraud-1er Cru Classé en 1855-Appellation Sauternes
Château Guiraud Château Guiraud, managed by Xavier Platy, located in the heart of the commune of Sauternes, has a 100-hectare vineyard in a single block. The vines are planted around the cellars and the château. The Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes ripen very early at Guiraud and undergo tremendous natural concentration due to the effects of “noble rot” (botrytis). The harvest takes place in several waves and the grapes are literally picked one by one. This process is not only risky, but accounts for very long yields. It nevertheless results in rich, complex wines. The quality of Château Guiraud ‘s terroir (soil+microclimate) earned its classification as a first great growth in 1855.
